Criminal Division Holds All Staff Meeting

On Friday March 04,2022, the Head of the Criminal Division, Hon. Justice Michael Elubu, chaired an all staff meeting to lay strategies on how best to run the Division, especially with the advent of daily hearings and Electronic Court Case Management Information System (ECCMIS).
He stressed the need for teamwork and mindset change for the new case disposal system to work.
He urged the staff to ensure daily updates are made so that the output of the Judicial Officers isreflected on the System.
The Deputy head of Division, Hon. Justice Tadeo Asiimwe encouraged the team to work together for a better performance. "The biggest challenge we can ever have is to find people scoring in different goal posts. Let us work towards one goal," he said. Adding that in the new era of ECCMIS, there was need to up the game by having passion for justice and work towards the better output of Judiciary as a whole.
Hon. Lady Justice Margret Mutonyi stressed the need for a front desk officer at the Court's registry to give credible information to court users. This, she said, would deal away with idlers that keep around court premises with evil intentions.
In his remarks, Hon. Justice Gadenya Paul Wolimbwa, encouraged the Division's staff to be vigilant by effectively doing their work in a timely manner and steer away from corrupt tendencies.
Hon. Justice Isaac Muwata, on his part, echoed the need for quick and timely attention to files for appeals to avoid delays and unnecessary delays.
Issues raised by the staff included delayed filing of court documents, fast tracking of records of proceedings, ample space and seats and the need for a canteen to minimize movements to look for meals.
Hon. Justice Elubu promised to look into all grievances raised by staff adding that another meeting of the same nature would be held in June.
